Home is where the army allows me to live with my husband
I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail

Amanda, welcome to the best board on OH. Lots of wonderful folks here! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I'm a bandster, over 2 years out, there are several of us here, so post away with any questions you might have. One of us will be more than happy to lend a hand, a shoulder, or what ever to help out.
Thank you to your husband, and also to you for the sacrifices you have made to keep this great country I call home FREE! Many thanks!! (We love our soldiers and their spouses here!!!)
Blessings,
Avis

I want to thank you all for the welcome and the nice messages about my husband. The area we live in really seems to dislike soldiers and their families, and some days it is really hard being here. This is our 5th deployment, and while you'd think we'd be used to it, in reality this has been the hardest. I cannot wait for it to be over.
I'm having my surgery done in Temple, Tx at Scott and White. I went last night to the Lifestyle change class which seemed pretty cut and dry. Nothing too shocking. The only thing that scared me was when I saw another woman's pre-op appointment. It's an all day affair here! Literally. Her first appointment was at 0715, the last at 1530 (3:30). That hospital is over an hour away. I have no idea how I'll get my son to school that day, or find a babysitter for the entire day for my extremely anti-social baby. So that worries me.
I was also a little surprised when the nurse said the majority of people only lose around 25 pounds the first year. Really? I'm hoping she meant 25 percent, because 25 pounds seems a little low.
Anyhow that's my novel for the morning....off to dental appointments.
